Unofficial Placeholder Site
This is a fan-made website. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the Dunedin Thunder, the Dunedin Ice Hockey Association, or the New Zealand Ice Hockey League, and it does not claim to represent the team in any capacity.
If I have used your image or media without consent, please don't be mad, I just needed content to build this placeholder website for the team. Please find my contact details in the footer.
Who we are
This website is an independently operated fan site following the Dunedin Thunder (Ōtepoti Dunedin, New Zealand). We take your privacy seriously and handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- Technical information — our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) to keep the site running and secure.
- Usage statistics— we use Google Analytics and our hosting provider's Vercel Web Analytics (which is cookieless) to see which pages are visited, on what kinds of devices, and roughly where visitors are from. This is aggregate information used only to improve the site; neither service logs or stores IP addresses.
- Newsletter sign-ups — the newsletter is not yet live. When it launches, we will collect the email address you provide, used solely to send club updates, and you will be able to unsubscribe at any time.
We do not sell personal information to anyone.
Third-party services
Some parts of the site link to services we don't control, which have their own privacy policies:
- iTICKET — ticket purchases are completed on iticket.co.nz.
- YouTube — game streams, replays and highlights play on the NZIHL's YouTube channel.
- nzihl.com — box scores, full statistics and player profiles are hosted by the NZIHL.
- Google Analytics — measures how the site is used, as described in our Cookie Policy, and processes that data under Google's privacy policy.
- Instagram (Meta)— the media page embeds the team's Instagram feed, which is served by Instagram and subject to Meta's privacy policy.
- Social media — our Facebook, Instagram and Linktree pages are operated on those platforms.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Contact Liam using the details in the site footer and we'll respond as soon as we can.
